Router Setup
How to Set Up Your TP-Link Router (Part Fibre Broadband)
Your TP-Link router connects in the same simple way as most part fibre kit: power first, then a cable from the router into your phone socket. This video shows you both, including what to do if your socket has a single slot.
Step by step
- 1Plug the power cable into the mains, then connect the other end into the back of the router.
- 2Take the broadband cable and plug one end into the grey slot on the router.
- 3If your socket has two slots, plug the other end straight into the socket and you're set up.
- 4If your socket has a single slot, fit a filter first, plug the grey cable into the filter, then push the filter into the socket.
- 5Wait for the router to power up and connect, and you're ready to go.
Common questions
Do I need a filter with my TP-Link router?
Only if your phone socket has a single slot. A two-slot socket doesn't need one. With a single slot, the filter splits the line so broadband and phone work together.
Where does the broadband cable plug into the router?
Into the grey slot on the router. The other end goes to your phone socket, either directly or through a filter depending on your socket type.
Nothing happens when I plug it in. What now?
Check the power cable is firmly in both the mains and the router, and that the mains switch is on. Give it a few minutes to start up. If the lights still don't come on, contact our support team and we'll help you through it.
