Check the whole contract cost: monthly payments over each price period, one-off setup charges, recurring add-ons and any usage costs. Then read what happens when the term ends or you leave early. A low starting price or "no hidden fees" slogan is not enough to compare offers.
A separately charged item is not automatically hidden. The important questions are whether it was explained before you signed, whether it is optional, and when it applies. Different providers and packages charge for different things.
What does Inspire commit to on pricing?
Honest Onboarding means no teaser pricing, inflated speed claims or hidden terms, with full cost from month one. Our Fixed-Price Protection standard commits to no mid-contract rises, creeping fees or annual CPI surprises.
Which broadband charges should I look for?
| Item | Question to ask |
|---|---|
| Setup, activation or delivery | Is there a one-off charge, and is it included in the total shown? |
| Installation work | What is included, and could additional work cost extra? |
| Phone, TV, mesh or support add-ons | Which are optional, how long does any trial last, and how do I cancel? |
| Scheduled price increases | What will I pay in each period of the minimum term? |
| Usage and call charges | What is included, and what could be billed separately? |
| End-of-term pricing | What recurring price applies when a discount or term ends? |
| Leaving or equipment returns | What could be due if I leave early or do not return loaned equipment? |
How do I calculate the total cost?
Add each price period separately, then include one-off charges and the add-ons you intend to keep. For example: £30 × 24 months + £25 setup + £5 × 24 months for an optional service = £865. That is an invented worked example, not an Inspire tariff. Uncertain usage charges should be shown separately rather than guessed.
If the monthly price changes during the term, split the calculation at the change date. Compare services over the same period, and note any differences in speed, support or contract length. A reward card or cashback offer should only reduce your comparison total if you meet its conditions and value it at that amount.
Does fixed-price broadband remove all these costs?
No. A fixed-price promise can cover the broadband subscription without covering every other bill item. Under Ofcom's rules introduced on 17th January 2025, contractual rises in new contracts must be disclosed upfront in pounds and pence with clear timing. Known rises can still exist; check the written offer.
What should I check when switching?
Check the old provider's minimum-term end date, any early termination charge, remaining bundle services and equipment-return requirements. Ofcom's switching advice explains why bundles and provider email accounts need particular attention. One Touch Switch simplifies the process but does not erase existing contractual charges.
Our switching guide covers the steps. If you find an unexpected charge, keep the agreement and bill, ask the provider to explain the discrepancy, and use its complaints process if it remains unresolved.
How does this apply to Inspire Telecom?
Compare the current broadband offer, your address-specific order summary and the terms. Check setup charges and optional services for the term you choose. The residential no-mid-contract-price-rise proposition is about the agreed broadband price; it should not be read as a promise that every possible charge is included.
Frequently asked questions
What hidden fees do broadband providers charge?
Potential extra costs include setup, delivery, optional services, usage, scheduled rises and charges for leaving early or not returning equipment. These are not universal. Check what your exact offer includes and what was disclosed before signing.
Does no hidden fees mean there is no setup fee?
No. A clearly disclosed setup fee can be separate from the monthly price. Compare the total written offer rather than inferring what a slogan includes.
Can I leave early without paying if my bill rises?
It depends on the type of increase and your contract. An increase already agreed and disclosed is different from an unexpected change. Check the notice and applicable terms before cancelling.
Does One Touch Switch cancel my whole bundle?
Do not assume it does. Check what happens to TV, mobile, email and other services, and whether stopping part of the bundle changes the price of anything left behind.
